J. Douglas Williams Group Exercise Classes

We offer more than 80 group exercise classes throughout the week for all ages and abilities including Les Mills BODYPUMP™, Zumba®Water Aerobics, and Yoga. We also offer SilverSneakers® for active older adults and have Kids Fitness for the little ones.

Our group exercise instructors are highly trained to provide those seeking a healthy lifestyle with a safe environment and effective exercise programs. Instructors facilitate class connections and create opportunities for storytelling and relationship building.


Cardio classes increase heart rate, improve your overall cardiovascular & respiratory fitness and burn calories. Known for being upbeat and may incorporate step risers, dance, aerobic moves or bikes.

Zumba® and Hip Hop
Zumba® classes fuse Modern and Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness party. The routines feature interval training sessions with fast and slow rhythms that incorporate Latin and International dances such as salsa, mambo. In Hip Hop, you will learn a choreographed dance routine to modern hip hop and popular music that is sure to get your feet moving and heart pumping!

Cardio Step
High energy, heart pumping classes uses step choreography to keep you moving and grooving to the beat of the music. Various intervals challenge your heart and tones the lower body. No two classes are ever the same!

Indoor Cycling
Bring outdoor cycling indoors in the Y’s cardio cycling class. Low impact or high intensity, it’s up to you. Your heart will pump, calories will burn and you’ll leave feeling re-energized. Instructors help with proper body alignment and cycling techniques.

Body Conditioning
This total body workout combines Resistance, and Endurance as the workout portion along with diet suggestions to help you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe and doable. No boredom here – this workout takes you through a bio-mechanically safe workout of the entire body. This class will leave you screaming for more!


Offers cardio and strength elements in one class. Busy schedules and obligations often force us to limit the time we spend exercising so we designed fitness classes that are both efficient and effective in burning calories, increasing muscular strength and endurance.

Cardio Interval and Cardio Interval Express
Interval workouts focusing on strength and cardiovascular exercises. Stations may include jumping rope, push-ups, speed and coordination, plyometrics, strength exercises and abdominal work.

Rip and Ryde
Our newest addition to the J. Douglas Williams group exercise schedule. This is basically cycle on steroids. Students will do intervals of cycle and basic upper body lifts with dumbbells. This is a total body workout. You get the best of both worlds, cycling for your heart and calorie burn. Weights to build and tone lean muscle to keep you metabolizing even after you leave class.

Basic Chair Fitness
This low impact class will offer a variety of cardio and resistance exercises designed to make day to day functions easier. A chair may be used for seated and/or standing support. Many exercises are performed in a chair.

Basic Fitness
Low intensity class. This class will offer a combination of cardiovascular exercise, muscle toning and stretching.

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered as resistance; a chair is used for the majority of the exercises.

Water Fitness
Stay heart healthy and happy with water fitness. Experience improvements in joint stability, coordination, balance, flexibility and muscular strength. You incorporate cardio and strength using water dumbbells, float belts and water gloves. Water fitness is easier on your joints than typical exercise.


Improve your physical fitness, but allow quiet time for reflection and stress reduction. These classes generally focus on breathing control, flexibility, balance and mental focus.

Yoga is a class that creates balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. It is designed to relieve stress and center peace of mind, body and spirit by focusing on breathing techniques, stretching and relaxation.


Strengthen and condition muscles as you incorporate dumbbells, barbells, body bars, bands, medicine balls, etc. Some classes may only utilize your own body weight to create resistance.

This class focuses on exercises to strengthen and tone the mid-section or core of the body. The class may utilize different exercise techniques and equipment to strengthen the abdominal and lower back muscles.

A strengthening class incorporating traditional weight training exercises such as squats, presses, lifts and curls. All major muscle groups are worked using barbells, dumbbells or other equipment.

A form of exercise which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and awareness in order to support efficient, easy movement. Breathing control and flexibility exercises are incorporated together to improve posture and body alignment.
