Dr. P. Phillips YMCA Aquatics

At the Y, we teach youth, teens, and adults to swim so they can stay safe around water. Learning these skills ensures swimming becomes a lifelong pursuit for staying healthy and loving water.  Swim lessons provide important skills that could save a life and will benefit students for a lifetime.

Youth Lessons

Age 6 months to 12 years

$75 for members and $150 for non-members for 8 lessons.  $38 for members and $75 for non-members for 4 lessons.

Our youth swimming program is comprised of introductory parent/child classes and six different stages, ranging from Water Acclimation up to Stroke Mechanics. During swim lessons we focus on nurturing swimming skills, developing self-esteem and engaging in positive experiences. We offer lessons Tuesdays/Thursdays or on Saturdays.

Private Lessons

All Ages

$200 for members only 

Private and partner lessons are a great options for swimmers looking to catch up or get ahead.  These lessons give you individualized attention to help learn or master swimming skills. You set the agenda by working with the instructor to determine goals. Curriculum and session times are customized to meet these goals.

Adult/Teen Lessons

Age 13 and up

$75 for members and $150 for non-members for 8 lessons.  $38 for members and $75 for non-members for 4 lessons.

Adult group lessons are designed to encourage all skill levels. We will help you learn the basics, so you can increase your comfort in the water, learn proper breath control, experience buoyancy and movement in the water. If you need to improve swimming strokes, we work with you on any or all of the four swimming strokes so you can perform them more proficiently and effectively.


We have several opportunities for you to engage with our community, whether it be through Aqua Fitness or various clinics. The Aqua Fitness program will help you to develop a more active lifestyle through non-impact exercise.


We offer masters-level fitness swim times throughout the week: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays.  Our skilled coaches offer a supportive atmosphere for swimmers of all skill levels.  Whether you are a novice, fitness seeker, or a seasoned athlete, our program offers something for you. Try it. You will love!


Lap swimming is offered seven days a week. At least two lanes are always guaranteed to our members during normal operating hours. Come refresh, exercise and enjoy the pool while you work out.  We offer six 25-yard lanes and digital pace clocks to help you keep track of your workouts.


Safety trainings are offered throughout the year, from Lifeguard training to Safe Start Lessons. If you are looking to gain knowledge in water safety there are several great options. Our Lifeguard classes will teach you all the skills you need to protect people in the water including CPR, AED, First Aid, and Water Rescue Techniques. Safe Start is a collaborative effort of Dr. Phillips Charities, Infant Swimming Resource and the YMCA of Central Florida. Because of the generosity of our partners and donors, scholarships are available for families who would like to participate in Safe Start but do not have the means to do so.
