Nurturing Your Mind

Try a New Recipe
A great way to improve your well-being and stay mentally engaged is by challenging yourself to accomplish new tasks! One suggestion we have is to try out a completely new recipe courtesy of Chef Gary, our Healthy Eating Director. Chef Gary has a wide variety of Healthy Living Recipes available whether you’re a master or novice in the kitchen. If you’d like to send Chef Gary a message, you can also connect with him through our Virtual Chef feature.

Fun, Educational Activities for Families
If you have children at home, take advantage of a variety of enrichment activities you can do together! With resources like the Central Florida Zoo’s “Zoo to You” program, Kids Bop dance videos, a free STEM Club, and much more, kids will be able to stay entertained while learning something new. Our Aquatics program staff have also put together 10 dry-land swim techniques you can practice at home, and a Safety Around Water Family Education Guide.

Practice Meditation
Meditating offers many long-lasting benefits including lowering your stress and anxiety levels, enhance your physical self-awareness, improve your focus, and can even help you get a better night’s rest. There are a variety of forms of meditation, such as “Mindfulness,” “Spiritual,” “Focused,” and “Movement.” Plenty of these forms don’t require any equipment and can be done in almost any location. Start by incorporating a few minutes of meditation into your day, and gradually build it up.

Get Real-time Support from Virtual Groups
