Christian Initiatives

At the Y, we have a clear mission: to improve the lives of all in Central Florida by connecting individuals, families and communities with opportunities based on Christian values that strengthen Spirit, Mind and Body. As a Christian non-profit movement, we strive every day to demonstrate the YMCA founding Bible verse of John 17:21 creating unity in our community and showing the love of Christ by serving, encouraging and caring for the needs of our members and neighbors.

Our core values unite us as a movement. They are the shared beliefs and essential principles that guide our behavior, interactions with each other and decision-making. The five values of the YMCA of Central Florida are:

Show a sincere concern for others- Luke 10:27

Be truthful in what you say and do- Proverbs 19:1, 21:28

Follow the golden rule- Matthew 7:12, 1 Peter 2:17

Be accountable for your promises and actions- Galatians 6:4-5

Be seekers of truth, to trust God with your life, to be sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see – Hebrews 11:6

DIG Efforts

Establishing a Diversity, Inclusion, and Global (DIG) committee was a purposeful step toward ensuring every one of our neighbors in our community feel welcome and accepted at the YMCA of Central Florida.

The Mission Committee

The mission committee is comprised of dedicated volunteers and staff who want to keep Christ central in the story and function of the YMCA. We help the YMCA team and volunteers to engage with members spiritually, either by being a personal connector or by connecting members to others.

Prayer Wall

The YMCA movement was founded by a group of men on their knees praying together for their co-workers and community. That tradition still lasts today at the YMCA of Central Florida. We invite you to share your prayer request with us and also to pray for those who have asked us to keep them in our prayers as well.

Church Partners

We have partnered with local churches in our community. Find out which of these churches is closest to your local family center.

Chaplain Services

Our chaplain program is a dynamic and proactive ministry offered at many of our Family Centers. Our purpose is to build a spiritual and pastoral presence in the YMCA. This group of dedicated volunteers wants to respond to the spiritual needs of our members, volunteers and staff in an atmosphere of religious, ethnic and economic diversity.
