Group Swim Lessons

Swim Starters

6 months to 3 years

In Swim Starters, infants and toddlers are accompanied by their parents as they learn to be comfortable in the water. The focus of this class for children will be to develop swim readiness skills through fun, confidence-building experiences. Parents will also be taught about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

Stage A: Water Discovery
This is the first stage. Parents will accompany their children as they’re introduced into the aquatic environment. Children are encouraged to explore and enjoy themselves while learning about water.

Stage B: Water Exploration
In the second stage, parents and children work together in the water to build fundamental aquatic skills. Together, they’ll explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, and other safety activities.

Class Details

These classes are for children from 6 months to 3 years of age, but children’s developmental levels determine which skills we introduce and build on as they progress. Each class session will be 30 minutes and will have one instructor that teaches up to 12 pairs of parents and children. To maximize safety, lifeguards are always on the pool deck during lessons.

We ask that parents provide the following items:

  • Towels
  • Reusable swim diaper under a swimsuit that has snug-fitting legs
  • Sunscreen and a swim shirt (for outdoor pools)
