WHAT IS AQUATICS CAMP?
YMCA Aquatics Camp offers your child a fun and educational experience of a lifetime. Our camps are filled with hands-on activities to fully engage your child in an environment that encourages active learning.
WHO IS AQUATICS CAMP FOR?
All campers will be swim tested and must pass swim test in order to be eligible for their camp program. Each camp is labeled by what color swim band they need; red, yellow or green.
Red Band: beginner or non-swimmer
Yellow Band: Camper can stand chest deep in water, swim for 12 yards and float for 10 seconds on their back.
Green Band: Jump in deep water tread water for 20 seconds, swim 12 yards, roll over onto back and float for 10 seconds and swim 12 yards of elementary back stroke. If campers cannot pass their swim test, they will be moved to another camp program.
Camps are grouped by the following:
Lower: Entering 1st – Entering 3rd grade
Upper: Entering 4th – Entering 6th grade
WHAT IS DONE IN EACH CAMP?
Each camp will have the following: pool time or water activity, lunch, snack, skill sessions, games, reading, and free time.
