YMCA Partners with Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children to Promote Safe Start Infant Water Survival Program
Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014
Drowning is the No. 1 killer of children under age 5 in Florida.
It only takes a few minutes for a child to drown or sustain serious, life-altering injuries. Children, as young as 6 months of age, can learn to save themselves in a drowning situation by using the self-rescue techniques taught in the YMCA of Central Florida’s Safe Start program. Unlike other swimming programs, Safe Start combines safe swimming lessons with lifesaving skills that teach your child to survive in the water.
Expanding Our Mission
Monday, July 21st, 2014
At the Y, we often talk about “mission.” And as with any worthwhile mission, the goal is to impact as many people in a positive way as possible. At the Dr. Phillips Y, we strive to do this every day, and now we are about to expand our mission by adding more programs and services that will improve the lives of even more individuals and families in the community.
I’m happy to announce that we have secured all necessary building permits and that we will begin expanding our parking lot
